Trying New Designs

I used to be more of a traditional design quilter. However now I'm finding its fun to mix up traditional with more modern designs. I finding using new designs are fun for me and others. I happened to have a new customer who just started quilting. So I am trying to find out what she likes. I used a more traditional design for her first quilt. Then I used more of a modern design for her other quilt. I did not make it really dense like the design comes.

I wanted to do something to soften up the straight lines on both of the quilts. This does not mean you cannot do a design that has straight lines. Maybe I'll try doing that with the next quilt.

Traditional:

When I think of traditional it more curves, meandering, novelty swirls and feathers.

This is the quilt I did a more traditional design on. The desogm is called Scrollwork.

I left it hope but can change it to be more dense.

Modern:

Modern quilts are all the rage now, bright colors, bold colors and clean lines. Modern machine quilting tend to be one design repeated all over the quilt. It can be straight likes or curves.

This design is Echoed Curves

This is the oppisite from the other one. This will let me find out what she likes better. Did I mention she has 20 more quilts to machine quilt yet?

I'm really happy and the customer which is more important loved it.
